Overview

  • Produce detailed electrical designs, schematics, load calculations, and technical documentation.

  • Develop power distribution systems, lighting layouts, earthing and bonding strategies, and cable routing plans.

  • Conduct site surveys, condition assessments, feasibility studies, and design reviews.

  • Ensure all designs comply with BS 7671, IEC standards, CDM regulations, and relevant UK building codes.

  • Collaborate with architects, consultants, contractors, and clients to coordinate design requirements.

  • Support procurement through specifications, equipment selection, and technical evaluations.

  • Provide technical oversight during installation, commissioning, testing, and handover.

  • Identify design risks, propose mitigations, and ensure safe, sustainable solutions.

  • Prepare technical reports, risk assessments, and documentation for regulatory approvals.

  • Troubleshoot electrical systems and propose upgrades or optimisation strategies.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience with electrical design for commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects.

  • Proficiency using tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech/Trimble ProDesign, Dialux/Relux, or similar.

  • Deep understanding of power distribution, LV systems, lighting control, emergency systems, and building services.

  • Knowledge of UK regulations, safety standards, and compliance frameworks.

  • Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills.

  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
